What does it mean to level a 360 panorama?

It means rotating a finished equirectangular 360° image on the sphere so the horizon sits on the equator and vertical features stand upright, then baking that orientation into the exported pixels.

Why is my 360 photo tilted even though I used a tripod?

Soft or uneven ground, imperfect sensor auto-level, or a stitch optimized for seams (not gravity) can leave pitch/roll error. Leveling the finished panorama fixes that without a full restitch.

Is leveling the same as Kuula Level Correction or PTGui Level Panorama?

Same use case — straighten a finished pano's horizon and verticals. The controls differ: Kuula emphasizes a simple level slider; PTGui often uses vertical control points or Level Panorama; this page offers Auto Align, guided edge picks on 360 or 2D, Roll, Pitch, and a horizon grid.

Do I need a 2:1 equirectangular image?

Yes. The tool expects a full spherical 2:1 aspect and will not silently crop or pad.

Does export re-level metadata?

Export bakes orientation into JPEG pixels and writes GPano so pose pitch and roll are zero after bake.

Can I pick standing edges in 2D?

Yes. Open the 2D tab, click Align from edges, then click the top and bottom of a door frame, wall corner, or column. A loupe follows the pointer so you can hit the edge. A second edge 60–120° away is more stable. The 360° tab is preview only.

Should I level before or after nadir patching?

Either order can work; treat them as separate tools. Leveling fixes orientation; Nadir Fixer patches the tripod hole. Avoid mixing them in one opaque step so you can undo each cleanly.

Where do I open the tool?

On this page. Drop a 2:1 panorama, Auto Align or pick standing edges, then download. Multi-scene tours still belong in Panoee Studio after the JPEG is level.

Do you upload my photos?

No. Leveling runs locally in the browser. Files never leave the device.
