Leveling slides the whole sphere so geometry lines up with gravity — without restitching source frames.

Auto Align and guided edges

Auto Align estimates pitch and roll from walls and vertical lines. If confidence is low, the preview still appears so you can check the grid and Apply or cancel. If it cannot propose a level, pick 1–2 standing edges on 2D (door frame, wall corner) — the same idea as vertical control points in a stitcher. A loupe follows the pointer. True verticals are meridians on the unwrap: click the top then the bottom of the line. The 360° tab is a look-only preview.

Before mode shows the original orientation. Undo / redo and reset keep edits reversible.

Export

Download bakes the orientation matrix into a JPEG. Photo Sphere / GPano metadata is written so PosePitchDegrees and PoseRollDegrees are 0.0 after bake (the image is already level).


How to level a 360 panorama in Panoee (steps)

  1. Drop a finished equirectangular 360° image (full 2:1 sphere: JPG, PNG, or WebP). Crops that are not a complete sphere are rejected.
  2. Turn on the Grid and switch between 360° and 2D as needed.
  3. Try Auto Align, or click Align from edges on 2D and tap 1–2 standing wall or door edges (loupe on hover).
  4. Fine-tune Roll and Pitch until walls stand and the horizon sits on the cyan guide. Switch to 360° only to preview.
  5. Toggle Before to compare, then download the leveled JPEG.
  6. Check the result in a 360 panorama viewer before publishing the tour.

If social platforms still show a flat photo after export, run 360 EXIF Fixer to ensure GPano tags are present. Compress with 360 Panorama Optimization only when you still need a smaller file — and re-check metadata afterward.


Level 360 panorama: grid, stitcher tools, and a reshoot

Manual Roll + Pitch + grid is the right pass when the horizon is visible and you want fine control — the same idea as Kuula’s slider + grid. PTGui / stitcher leveling still belongs on a multi-image project that is open in the stitcher; the sphere math is the same, the product surface is not. Re-shooting on a leveling base prevents many issues at capture time, but it does not replace fixing a finished file.

Panoee’s implementation uses sphere orientation (pitch / roll) and inverse sampling into equirectangular UV — the same mental model as leveling on a stitching sphere, even though this page runs in the browser rather than a desktop stitcher.


When should you level before publishing a tour?

Level before you publish if:

  • Floors or furniture look tilted while panning
  • Door frames and wall corners lean in the viewer
  • The 2D equirect shows a clear horizon “wave”
  • You already patched the nadir / zenith and do not want to restitch

Hide-tripod / nadir work is a separate job — use Nadir Fixer for that. Orientation leveling does not replace nadir patching.
